A Level Study Programme at Newcastle Sixth Form College

Admissions Process

We are open for applications throughout the academic year and summer break 2024, and in the first instance applicants must complete our online application form which can be found HERE

Following an application, we will initially contact you to check details and assess your predicted grades. You will be invited to take part in a consultation interview and we will offer IAG and discuss subject options and progression plans beyond A Levels.

Successful applicants will be sent a conditional offer by post and throughout the academic year will be invited to Open Events, unique subject "focus on" events and our Annual Taster Event.

At enrolment, applicants will be asked to select a time for their enrolment completion on Results Day 2024 and the following days, and during this completion process we check final awarded grades and selected subjects to complete an enrolment to start at college in autumn 2024.

You will choose three subjects to study across two years.

For students who are studying Further Maths this will be available as a fourth subject. Other subjects may be considered if required for your progression route.

If you haven’t achieved grade 4 in either your English or Maths GCSE, you would be required to resit and would do this alongside your three A-Level subjects.

If you haven’t achieved grade 4 in both English and Maths GCSE you won’t be able to study A Levels but you might be able to study our Access to Level 3 programme.

All students are also required to attend Enrichment in their first year.
