GREEN DAY A GREAT DAY FOR NEWCASTLE WEST END FOOD BANK

07 May

We dedicated an entire days activity to the Newcastle West End Foodbank, with donations of food, collections throughout the day,a cake bake sale and a whole college effort to 'wear green' in support of the Food Bank. The event was a huge success with hundreds of food donations collected and an additional £237 raised through other efforts. The students who led the activity planned the entire day, and are a credit to the college for their ability to organise such a range of activities and raise the profile of such a worthy cause.

Lauren Robinson, who worked alongside the students in the build up to the events and on the day commented, 'We are really pleased with the great level of support the event achieved, and I am very proud of the students who organised the whole day themselves.'

Almost 1 in 7 families use the Food Bank in the area, and the donations and funds raised will go towards supporting the many vulnerable people in the local community who rely on the service.
