A level Spanish is a rich and engaging programme of study which enables students to develop advanced-level, transferable language alongside a deeper cultural appreciation of Hispanic culture, literature and film in Spanish language.

Why study this subject?
Studying Spanish will encourage you to widen your horizons and add an international dimension to your A level programme. You will develop critical thinking and learn to write effectively. You will grow a deep understanding of grammar which will allow you to be more spontaneous.
In addition, you will learn many transferrable skills, such as the ability to communicate clearly, be confident about speaking in public and use problem solving strategies.
What can you expect from this A level?
The lessons are varied and help you develop your knowledge of themes and your language skills. Typically, in a lesson, you will learn through listening, researching, reading and speaking about issues of the Hispanic world. You will have lessons dedicated to literature and film. All lessons will help you build on your vocabulary and grammar to enhance your fluency in Spanish.

Assessment
Throughout the two years, we will help you develop the skills and knowledge to get ready for your final three exams.
Paper 1 (40%): Listening, Reading and Translation into English.
Paper 2 (30%): one essay on a film and one essay on a book and a translation into Spanish.
Paper 3 (30%): Speaking exam.
