We were given the opportunity to hear from Chris Cant, the Managing Director of local construction business Metnor Construction, as he spoke to a packed lecture theatre about his career today.
He talked in depth about his own experience from school and his early career, through to his role now leading one of the fastest growing construction businesses in the region. He offered his personal insight into the challenges facing anyone starting their career, and demonstrated that persistence, a real work ethic and being prepared to stand out from the crowd all pay dividends when you enter the workforce.
He also provided an understanding of how companies like Metnor Construction are embracing the apprenticeship programme to find young talent and develop the best employees in the sector.
