Our Year 12 English Literature and Drama students began their much-anticipated London trip with an inspiring first day immersed in the world of Shakespeare.

The day kicked off with a guided tour of the iconic Globe Theatre, where students had the chance to step back in time and explore the history of Elizabethan theatre. The tour guide brought the theatre’s rich past to life, sharing fascinating insights into Shakespeare’s plays, the actors who performed them, and the audiences who came to watch.

In the evening, students experienced a thrilling modern, western-style performance of Romeo and Juliet. This fresh and dynamic interpretation offered a new perspective on the timeless tragedy, sparking plenty of lively discussion afterwards.

It was the perfect start to a trip designed to deepen their understanding of literature and theatre, and to see how Shakespeare’s work continues to inspire new generations.
