Newcastle Sixth Form College achieves EcoCampus Bronze Award

27 February

Newcastle Sixth Form College (NSFC) is pleased to have been recognised for commitment to environmental improvements with an EcoCampus Bronze Award, an environmental management system award scheme for the higher and further education sectors.

The EcoCampus scheme aims to help institutions develop good operational and management practices in managing their environmental impact and covers all aspects of an organisation’s operations including: waste management, energy use, water efficiency, sustainable purchasing, construction and refurbishment, biodiversity, travel and community involvement.

Gerard Garvey, Newcastle Sixth Form College Principal, said: “We are pleased to accept this Bronze Award in recognition of the commitment at Newcastle Sixth Form College to improve our environmental sustainability.

"The policy developed by NSFC for the EcoCampus programme will act as a guide and framework to improve our environmental performance with a structured approach in the future.”

NSFC Geography Teacher Peter Groark will be managing NSFC’s progress towards the next step – a Silver Award.
