NSFC student awarded prestigious appointment with the Duchess of Northumberland

05 April

Katie Harrison, who studies A Levels at NSFC, was selected as a Lord Lieutenant’s cadet for Northumberland and awarded her certificate at a special ceremony last week.

Katie will assist the Lord Lieutenant (the Duchess of Northumberland) in her duties along with a representative from the sea cadets and army cadets. These events will include parades and any Royal visits during the next 12 months, with Katie representing the 404 (Morpeth) Squadron Air Training Corps (ATC).

The Cadet Sergeant said: “I was pleased to be awarded this honour and I am looking forward to taking part in my first event accompanying the Duchess of Northumberland.

“I enjoy being in cadets, it has given me the opportunity to meet new people and to try out activities I might not have tried otherwise, such as playing the snare drum in the Wing and Regional Band.”

Katie, who hopes to pursue a career as a dentist, also recently completed the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award with the cadets and volunteers at a local charity shop and a horse riding centre.
