It’s not every day you get to learn from one of the UK’s top finance experts! Students from our Sixth Form were treated to an incredible opportunity to hear from Sarah Breeden, Deputy Governor at the Bank of England, who joined us — along with students from Newcastle College — for a fascinating talk on money, markets, and making it in the finance sector.

Over 200 students attended the session, gaining valuable insights into the world of finance and the pathways to success within it. Sarah shared her inspiring journey from a state school education to one of the most prestigious positions in UK financial leadership, offering students a first-hand look at how determination and passion can lead to remarkable achievements.

Her talk covered not only the workings of the Bank of England but also the importance of financial literacy and confidence in pursuing careers in the industry.

We’re incredibly grateful to Sarah Breeden and the Bank of England team for taking the time to visit and motivate our students. Opportunities like this remind us that no matter where you start, the possibilities are limitless.
