South Africa Trip - Part One
What an incredible week we have had.
Our journey began with a visit to Gratton, a private secondary school, where we were given such a warm welcome. We were invited to join lessons, and the school choir performed for us on our arrival. Watching our pupils dance into the hall while listening to the powerful sounds of South African music being performed to us was an incredibly emotional moment. It was a reminder of how education can bring people together across cultures and backgrounds. Following this, we travelled around an hour and a half into a rural area to visit an all-inclusive primary school.
Throughout the week, our students have taught across all year groups, adapting brilliantly to whatever challenges and opportunities came their way.
One morning, we arrived to find ourselves teaching 101 nursery pupils, many with very limited English. Once again, our students impressed with their adaptability, enthusiasm, energy, and professionalism. It has been a pleasure to watch them teach, engage learners, build connections, and even pick up some Zulu along the way.
They have embraced every experience with positivity and confidence, and I could not be prouder of them. Seeing our students step outside their comfort zones, make a genuine impact, and grow both personally and professionally has been incredibly rewarding. We still have more to come, and we are excited to see what the rest of this journey brings.
