STUDENTS ENJOY SPANISH CULTURE AND LANGUAGE DAY

11 November

On Friday 8th November, A Level Spanish students visited the Tyneside Cinema to practice their language skills with a showing of the Spanish film: ‘Diarios de Motocicleta’. The film is an adaptation of the life story of Che Guevara and the volatile world of South America following the Second World War. These types of educational visit combine much needed listening skills with a more general awareness of the cultural and historical period following World War II in a Spanish speaking region.

Following the cinema the students attended a workshop where they were given the opportunity to practice speaking Spanish with undergraduates. This university link was extremely useful in developing contacts for our students, but also meeting current HE students studying Spanish to consider their options beyond Sixth Form.

The day was concluded with an excellent presentation on the importance and significance of a modern foreign language in the world of work and as a HE study option.
