3D GAMES DEVELOPER - ASH BATEY

01 December

This week, we would like to highlight NSFC student, Ash Batey, who is currently working as a 3D game developer.

Having always had a passion for gaming and game design, he was accepted onto an internship at Ubisoft in 2020, but he was unable to start due to Covid restrictions. Determined not to give up, Ash funded his own development and undertook a 140-hour online game design course, which he completed throughout lockdown.

Earlier this year, Ash took part in the 2-week summer camp run by INFINITY27, a hands-on activity-based programme covering art, design, and development using immersive real-time 3D programming with Unreal Engine.

After completing the PROTOGÉ x INFINITY27 Summer Camp, Ash was hired as a QA Tester at Wolf & Wood Interactive, an independent video game studio based in Newcastle, and is currently assisting the organisation in the development of multiple projects.

Ash is planning to continue working part-time and progress to a degree in computer science or games development, already holding an unconditional offer for a degree in the latter.
