A Level History students visit Auschwitz

Around six million people, mostly Jews, were killed by the Nazis during the second world war - more than one million of them in the extermination and concentration camps at Auschwitz.

The Holocaust Educational Trust believes the only way to keep the memory of this terrible event alive is for people to see these camps for themselves.

So each year, they take parties of students to Auschwitz, teaching them about the history and legacy of the holocaust, and encouraging them to bring the message back to their schools and communities.

This year, Newcastle Sixth Form College A Level History students Rachel Potts and Ethan Way were invited to take part - with the Evening Chronicle covering the visit.
