Getting Involved at Newcastle Sixth Form: Enrichment and extra-curricular activities!

13 February

As a current student at Newcastle Sixth Form, I can honestly say coming here rather than staying on at school is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Besides the excellent teaching and first class facilities, I really enjoy the extra-curricular activities the College has to offer. Let’s take a Wednesday afternoon for instance; there is a great enrichment programme running where each student is off timetable to partake in an activity of their choice. This can be almost anything ranging from art and crafts to joining a sports team or even learning a new language!

Your enrichment can be through the College or you can choose your own (but you must check this with your academic tutor first!). I really think this programme is very useful for any student hoping to progress on to university because it can act as a work experience opportunity and it will look great on your UCAS application.

Activities can help you to settle in

Not only does Newcastle Sixth Form offer enrichment, but they are also involved with other organisations such as The Duke of Edinburgh Award (Silver and Gold awards) and World Challenge which is a great international fundraising project.

Joining clubs or attending enrichment really helps with the social struggles of starting a new college too!
