NSFC Students go to Oxford

30 April

Last Friday, some of our students had the privilege of visiting the University of Oxford for the day, offering them a priceless opportunity to immerse themselves in one of the world's most renowned institutions.

To start the day, our students enjoyed breakfast inside the dining hall of the Christ Church Cathedral. This iconic venue, one of Oxford's oldest and tallest buildings, set the tone for the rest of the day.

They were then taken on a comprehensive tour of New College Oxford and all of its facilities. As they explored the campus, they were delighted in recognising familiar sights such as the cloisters, courtyard and tree, all of which have been used as filming locations in the Harry Potter series.

After the tour, our students had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with four student ambassadors. During this session, they gained valuable insights into various aspects of academic and social life at Oxford.

And finally, to bring the day to a fulfilling close, our students engaged in an insightful session with chemistry tutor John McGrady, who hails from the North East himself. Mr. McGrady graciously shared his wealth of expertise and offered practical advice on navigating the intricate landscape of Oxford applications and crafting compelling personal statements.

Thank you to everyone who made this trip possible, our students and staff alike were blown away by the experience.
