STUDENT ART SHOWCASE - SFCA EXHIBITION 2022

15 June

The Sixth Form Colleges Association recently invited first-year A Level Art & Design students to participate in their annual exhibition. The theme for this year's competition was 'Planet Future,' and the brief requested students to create artwork that comments on what the future of our world holds based on their personal environmental concerns.

NSFC were successful in this year’s exhibition with three students being handpicked for the quality of their work and content. The artwork developed by our winning students are seen above. "Sempiternal" by Sophie Pollock, "Micro plastic" by Eugene Corpuz, and "The end is approaching" by Maddison Earls are all pieces of art produced exclusively for this exhibition and will now appear as part of this national showcase.

Bill Watkin, chief executive of the SFCA, said: "This online exhibition celebrates the arts and recognising excellence in sixth form colleges. It is imperative that we keep the arts in education secure and flourishing. If young people are to make a truly valuable contribution to society, even if they are to be successful scientists, engineers, doctors and technicians, they need to develop their creative skills, their artistic sensitivities and their ability to interact with others.”

Well done to our students, whose work will be displayed until July 22nd and can be found online at https://www.sixthformcolleges.org/1784/sfca-art-exhibition-2022-planet-future
